JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Three games and three different winners at the Phil Brown Classic on Sunday at Jack Brown Stadium. Jamestown beat Aberdeen 5-2 in five innings. Aberdeen needed eight innings to beat Carrington 5-4. Then Carrington clubbed Jamestown 18-3 in five innings.
GAME 1 – Jamestown 5, Aberdeen 2 F/5
Isaac Mimong capped a three run first inning for Jamestown with and rbi double on the way to the 5-2 win over Aberdeen in a scheduled 5-inning game. Post 14 would add two unearned runs in the third.
Thomas Falk allowed five hits and one run in four innings for the win. He did not walk a batter and fanned two.
GAME 2 – Aberdeen 5, Carrington 4 F/8
Tyler Hoffman’s single scored Nick Clemens with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning for Aberdeen’s 5-4 win over Carrington in a scheduled 5-inning game.
The Smitty’s sent the game to extra innings with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game at 4.
Carrington scored two runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead. Brandon Larson, who had three hits for Post 25, singled in Trey Rosenau. Then Drew Page scored Payton Smith with a single of his own.
GAME 3 – Carrington 18, Jamestown 3 F/5
Kyle Leapaldt hit two home runs and drove in six runs as Carrington had 13 hits and scored in every inning.
All nine starters had at one hit, and scored at least one run. Seven different players drove in a run. Payton Smith had three rbi, Nick Lyman and Tyson Lee each had two. Brandon Larson, Leapaldt and Lee had two hits each. Leapaldt capped an eight run fourth with a grand slam home run. He made it 5-1 in the second with a two run shot. Both went over the Ivy in right field.
Jamestown was 2-1 for the weekend and is now 12-9 overall. Carrington was 1-3 and is now 16-7 while Aberdeen went 2-1 and is now 6-20.
