VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Valley City suspended the Alcoholic Beverage License of the VFW Club after the club failed to get their paper work and fee renewal license in before the city imposed deadline in June of 2019.

The city commission voted to deny the establishment’s request for renewal during a regular city commission meeting on Tuesday, July 2nd. City Attorney Carl Martineck explained what happened and what the next steps will be for the city and the service club.

VFW Club spokesman Gary Schlagel told NewsDakota.com that the club is working to get their paperwork in order and will issue a statement soon. He wanted to let the public know that the club is not shutting down, despite the rumor circulating in the community.

Meanwhile, the city commission approved of the Alcoholic Beverage Licenses for Sabir’s Dining and the Woodland Steakhouse in Valley City with a stipulation that includes a public hearing.

There were no violations involved with any these establishments in Valley City according to city officials.
