JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Historic 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse is continuing to find ways to bring people through their doors.
Two years after opening their doors to the public for the first time, the courthouse has continued to expand their events and activities. One of those is the new escape room, a growing trend where individuals have one hour to solve puzzles and “escape” the room.
Site Supervisor Steve Reidburn says they’re accepting registration for the room at www.escape1883courthouse.com.
Other things the courthouse continues to expand is the concert series. Reidburn says Terry and Linda Scwartz will return with their unique music and poetry storytelling on July 6th.
Reidburn says each concert event is free and open to the public, but donations are accepted. He says donations go on to support the concert series and the ongoing renovations at the courthouse.
Also throughout the summer, Reidburn says they welcome anyone to just step inside and view the newly renovated spaces, take tours and bring the kids for their many different activities especially the Junior Sheriff Program.
Built in 1883, the courthouse is one of the oldest, standing buildings in North Dakota. It is the birthplace of the state, the state’s largest collection of pressed tin, and a vault of great local and statewide history.
Reidburn says they’re open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 AM to 5 PM and closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
