JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Erik Laber was born and raised in Jamestown.
Now, he’s the new City Forester and is looking to make a difference in the community.
Laber was hired to replace former city forester Sherri Steckler and officially started on June 3rd.
Laber says he’s always had an interest in agriculture and horticulture. He pointed out that there were already some things he was seeing in the community that needed some attention.
Laber encourages residents to keep their eyes out for ashwood and emerald ash borer. He says maintaining bushes along sidewalks and limbing up trees over sidewalks and streets is also important to not obstruct traffic.
Laber says as far as projects go, he’s looking forward to continuing some of the work around the Jamestown Civic Center and the new community orchard in that area.
Laber says the community has been very supportive and welcoming and he’s looking forward to serving the area.
