VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Grafton scored allof their runs in the final four innings and cruised to a 12-1 win over Valley City in American Legion Baseball Saturday afternoon at Charlie Brown Field.

Easton Hesch shutout Grafton through the first three innings, but the Spoilers scored twice in the fourth off of Hesch, two more in the fifth, three in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Post 60 got its lone run in the sixth on a rbi double by Avery Bennefeld. Connor Drogan led off the innining with a triple, then scored on Bennefeld’s two bagger.

Drogan had two of the seven hits for Valley City. Bennefeld, Jacob Johnson, Riley Gerhardt, Mitchell Taylor, and Briar Harvey had the other hits for Post 60.

Game two ended in a 3-3 tie. Grafton scored twice in the sixth to tie the game at 3.

Alex Thornton’s two-run single broke a 1-1 tie in the third. Corey Nelson scored earlier on a wild pitch.
Nelson had two hits for Valley City. Thornton, Jacob Johnson, and Riley Gerhardt each had hits for Post 60 who are 2-3-1 overall on the season and 2-1 in the East Region.

The game was halted due to weather in the top of the seventh inning.

Valley City host the Fargo Jets tonight at 5:30 in a regional doubleheader at Charlie Brown Field.
