JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission announced $3.5 million for airport infrastructure grants on June 6th.
Revenue for these grants is primarily from state tax collections on aviation fuel and aircraft sales. A majority of the grant allocations will also be matched with federal grants anticipated for 2019 airport projects.
“These state grants are critical in maintaining the needed infrastructure to support the aviation industry, which is a major contributor to the state’s economy,” the commission states.
“The state of North Dakota fully understands the benefits of smart and efficient infrastructure as well as the economic impact and heightened standard of living that our airports provide to their communities,” Executive Director Kyle Wanner states. “These airport grant allocations will go a long way to help leverage federal funding for high priority airport projects within North Dakota while at the same time ensuring that our statewide aviation system is being maintained.”
The Jamestown Regional Airport will receive roughly $74,505 that will go towards Terminal Apron Reconstruction (design), PAPI Repairs, and Terminal Apron Lighting Installation.
Other area airports that received funding for projects include Ashley, Ellendale, Harvey, Carrington, Edgeley, and Wishek. You can find the full report of airports funding below.
