CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – VanBedaf Dairy of Carrington recently accepted freewill donations during their third LegenDAIRY Open House on Sunday, June 2nd.
With those donations, they decided to donate those to the Carrington Daily Bread program.
“Dairy farmers across the country are rallying against childhood hunger, all in different ways,” Conny VanBedaf stated. “We decided to join with a free will offering at one of the food stands at our open house. [We] were pleasantly surprised by all the giving hearts in the crowd.”
Donations from the visitors were collected and around $1,192 was donated.
LegenDAIRY has been hosted by Corne and Conny van Bedaf since they moved to North Dakota ten years ago. A record 900 guests attended the free, on-farm event.
North Dakota Dairy Ambassador Alli Peterson joined volunteers to take guests on guided tours of the dairy farm.
“It is such a thrill to share dairy’s story of dedication to caring for their cows and providing safe and nutritious milk to North Dakota consumers,” she stated.
Wagons were donated by the NDSU Carrington REsearch Extension Center and they carried attendees throughout the farm where they experienced farmer dedication to cow comfort, environmental stewardship and the importance of dairy farming to the community and neighboring farmers.
