VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – As a result of excessive snow fall this past winter and spring, all townships in Barnes County will be receiving reimbursement funds to help alleviate the costs for snow removal.
According to the news release, each township within Barnes County will receive $5,000. Barnes County will receive $210,000 from the state that will go to the Barnes County Treasurer’s Office who will disburse the funds to each of the 42 townships.
The reimbursement funds are coming from Senate Bill 2016 which included an appropriation of $8.1 million that is to be distributed by the State Treasurer to non-oil-producing counties for the benefit of the organized and unorganized townships, no funding was included for cities throughout the state.
The second possible funding source, could come from a Presidential Disaster request submitted by Governor Burgum requesting a major disaster declaration to free up federal money to address spring flooding in almost 20 counties in North Dakota.

The request to President Donald Trump seeks a declaration for March 21 to April 29 for the counties of Adams, Barnes, Cass, Dickey, Emmons, Grand Forks, Grant, Hettinger, Lamoure, Logan, McKenzie, Morton, Pembina, Ransom, Richland, Sargent, Steele, Trail and Walsh.
