NORTH DAKOTA, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – From April 1 through May 19, law enforcement agencies across North Dakota deployed extra patrols enforcing the law against underage drinking, as well as conducting compliance checks and shoulder taps, as part of the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.
A total of 201 citations were attributed to the added enforcement, including 21 minor in consumption citations, 17 minor in possession citations, 31 speeding citations, seven drug-related citations, and seven Driving Under the Influence (DUI) arrests.
Deterring teens from alcohol and/or drugs is a critical message for law enforcement to communicate. This additional enforcement is part of the Vision Zero strategy to eliminate motor vehicle fatalities and serious injuries on North Dakota roads.
