MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the fifth year in a row, the Valley City Hi-Liners reached the Class A State Softball tournament. After a 5th place finish in 2019, the Hi-Liners bring experience to the state tournament. With several players that played a part in the 2018 record setting team.

Head Coach Hilary Flatt says this year’s team is ready to make their mark at state after watching last year’s seniors.

The first game will not be easy for the seventh ranked Hi-Liners. They face fourth ranked Dickinson, who have been runners up in three of the last four seasons, including last year. This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season says coach Flatt.

Dickinson won the second game 12-2 in six innings. The Midgets are 24-7 on the season and like Valley City, got off to a slow start winning just two of their first seven games. Since that time, they are 22-2. The Hi-Liners won just three of their first eight games. Since that time they are 13-3.

First pitch is scheduled for 11am from the South Hill Softball Complex in Minot. You can hear the game on 1490AM KOVC/96.3FM and newsdakota.com. Coverage begins at 10:45am.
