BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the second straight year, Jamestown sophomore Meghan Ford takes home a state title in the 1600 meter run.

Coming into the race, Ford had the fastest time out of anyone with a best of 4:45.11. It was nearly over six seconds quicker than the next athlete Megan Lundstrom. With the previous state title and the quickest time coming into the state tournament, Ford put together a strategy for the 1600, but it didn’t go as planned.

Ford passed Lundstrom on the final lap to clinch her second straight state championship in the 1600. The margin of victory was decided by just over half a second.

The entire 2018-2019 athletics season was filled with lofty goals for Ford. After winning a state title last year, some would be content but not Megan Ford.

Ford won the state championship in cross country by 31 seconds and now the championship in the 1600.
