JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – All townships in Stutsman County will be receiving some reimbursement for snow removal over the course of winter.

Stutsman County Emergency Manager and 911 Coordinator Jerry Bergquist also brought forward the cost of partial snow removal costs and the reimbursement to townships. He says a senate bill had a line item that would reimburse the townships this June.

The money for the unorganized townships would then go to the county.

Commissioner Dave Schwartz stated he had been receiving calls about the reimbursement.

Bergquist says all non-oil producing counties are receiving the reimbursement funding.

Bergquist also introduced a township/county memorandum of agreement.

Bergquist says all 62 organized townships signed the agreement. He says the two unorganized townships didn’t need to sign the agreement, which was then sent to the state.

He later brought forth the funding for the statewide interoperable radio network. Dispatch centers statewide will be required to replace their own equipment, which isn’t covered in the bill.

Radios could cost upwards of $4,000 a piece, but must be replaced in order to operate on the statewide network. Bergquist says they’re waiting for a dollar amount from Motorola, the company that bid on the console updates. He says the extra money being dedicated through the county resident’s phone bills will help with some of the costs.
