JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Chess players of all skill level are being invited to test their mettle against others in what could be the largest chess tournament in Jamestown May 18th.
The Jamestown Middle and High School Chess Club will be hosting the event. Advisor Jacob Denault says they only recently started the Knight Club last year.
Denault says North Dakota Chess President Todd Wolf dedicated some funding to the tournament. Denault says funds raised from the tournament will go on to bolster the chess club in Jamestown.
Denault says participants of all ages are welcome to play. Each participant will be guaranteed five games each. Kindergarten through High School players will be split into age groups and an adult division will be available as well.
The cost is $10 per competitor. The tournament will be held at Knights of Columbus Banquet Hall beginning at 10 AM.
