BELFIELD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Stanley man was injured when his semi carrying anhydrous ammonia overturned on I-94 near Belfield early Friday morning.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that the semi was traveling westbound on I-94 4 miles east of Belfield just before 5 AM when the driver turned left to avoid a vehicle that had merged in front of him.

The semi overturned and came to rest on its left side in the median. The 50 year-old Stanley man was transported to Dickinson Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

“The Interstate was closed for approximately 4 hours with traffic diverted around the scene, Sgt. Ryan Duletski reports. “No hazardous materials were released as a result of the crash.”

The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, Belfield Police, Belfield Ambulance, South Heart Rural Fire Department, and Belfield Rural Fire Department.
