VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Public Schools will be dedicating The Bill Jansen Memorial on Monday May 13th at a varsity track and field meet at the new Dacotah Track.
Superintendent Josh Johnson issued this statement:
We are excited to announce the 2019 Bill Jansen Blue and White Track Meet on Monday, May 13th at our new Dacotah Bank Track at Hanna Field. This will be the first varsity track & field meet at Hanna Field since the late 1980s when meets officially ended due to the condition of the track. We would like to extend a special invitation to all VCHS track & field alumni and friends of Coach Bill Jansen to help us celebrate this special event and dedicate the Coach Jansen Memorial.
Prior to the start of the Bill Jansen Blue and White Track & Field Meet (at 2:30pm), we will officially dedicate the Memorial in honor of legendary track & field Coach Bill Jansen. Coach Jansen coached track at Valley City High School for 33 years and is fondly remembered for his positive impact on student-athletes at Valley City High School. Coach Jansen passed away in 2003. Today his memory and legacy in track & field have continued at Valley City High School.
