JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Jamestown man was arrested and faces numerous charges after he was found terrorizing and brandishing a machete Friday night.

Jamestown Police Sgt. Ryan Goff reports that at around 8:30 PM, Stutsman County Dispatch received numerous reports of a disturbance in Western Park Village between a man and woman in the street.

“Callers stated a loud boom was heard and the back window of a car was smashed out and its tires slashed,” Sgt. Goff reported. “The male subject was also reportedly in the street with a machete and then attempting to drive away in the damaged car.”

Officers were on the scene within minutes and made contact with the man in the 1800 block of 9th Avenue SW. The man was still attempting to drive away in the damaged vehicle.

“Upon seeing police arrive, the man exited the vehicle and approached officers while brandishing the machete in a hostile manner. The man would not comply with commands and posed a significant danger to everyone.”

Police deployed less-than-lethal 12ga bean bag rounds to subdue the man who was successfully taken into custody with minimal injury.

26 year-old Ricardo Vasquez of Jamestown has been arrested on suspicion of Felony Terrorizing, Simple Assault (Domestic), Misdemeanor Reckless Endangerment, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Disorderly Conduct, and Preventing Arrest.

He has also been charged with suspected Criminal Mischief for damaged property. Vasquez was transported to the Stutsman County Corrections Center and awaiting formal charges. The incident remains under investigation.
