JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Post 14 Legion baseball program is under new direction as former Jimmie slugger Sam Joseph was named the next coach earlier this week. Joseph, from Kent, Washington, played for the Jimmies from 2003-04, helping the program to their first World Series trip in 2004.

Since then he has been a legion assistant and been involved with the youth programs, coaching his son Mason’s 9u team last summer.

Coach Joseph said he is excited that it finally fell in place for him to take over the legion team.

He will be assisted by a former member of Post 14 and current Concordia Cobber Jake Stilwell and former Jimmie Alex Sablan.

The legion season will begin in June when the high school season wraps up. Post 14 plays in Class A, which is the middle of the three leagues. The west division tournament is scheduled for July 23-27 in Minot and the state tournament is July 31-August 4 in Bismarck.

The 2019 team should be primed to make a deep run into the postseason,
