JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The city of Jamestown will soon have a few “escape rooms” beginning this summer.

Escape rooms are mental and physical adventure based games where players must solve a series of puzzles and riddles using hints, clues, and strategy to complete objectives.

Courtney Wiest and her husband Shannon had the idea to bring an escape room to Jamestown after watching a tv show inspired by the popular attraction.

Wiest says after going through several escape rooms themselves, they decided that the one-of-a-kind experience should be available to everyone in the area. She said they brainstormed a few ideas and with her husband’s construction experience, began working on their rooms.

Wiest says they’re hoping to have Buffalo City Escape completed and open by the end of May. She says they’re already brainstorming more ideas when they’re ready for the second room.

Wiest says they plan to manage the escape room as a side gig to their already full-time jobs.

You can find more information about Buffalo City Escape on their Facebook page here.

Jamestown Tourism is also looking to build an escape room in the 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse. The plan is to use props that match the historic surroundings and puzzles that will be fun and educational.
