JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Hundreds of students from the Jamestown High School will be spending May 1st volunteering at numerous non-profits and causes for the annual Day of Service.
High School Principal Adam Gehlhar states that they believe service plays an essential role in the education of children and future citizens. Each year, they’ve had their students volunteer in the community for a day.
Gehlhar says throughout the year, Senior students and their homeroom advisers to work out a plan for the school-wide day of service in Jamestown.
The student council and other students stepped up and developed a list of non-profits, community groups, government agencies and more that would benefit from service. Principal Gehlhar says the students could choose from the list or come up with a different service they felt passionate about.
“Our hope is that students will continue to develop a sense of service and improvement in the community that will extend beyond this day,” Principal Gehlhar stated in a note to parents.
Students will be all over Jamestown for the day and be back at the school by 2 PM.
