JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Foot Health month was celebrated in April, but Dr. Kayla Emter with the Jamestown Regional Medical Center says your foot health needs to stay at the forefront during summer.
According to the American Podiatric Medical Association, approximately 20 percent of the U.S. population has at least one foot problem annually. It may be the result of poor fitting shoes, or the result of an underlying health problem.
Dr. Emter joined the JRMC staff in October 2018 and brings her podiatry expertise to the region.
Dr. Emter says it’s tempting to go barefoot on the grass, but there’s always risk of stepping on something or being stung. Emter says flip flops may be a first choice for summer wear, but to be mindful of the footwear for the activities you’ll be doing.
She states that support around the ankle and heel is important. She says you should also be wearing something around public pools and other bodies of water.
Dr. Emter says if you’re experiencing any pain or something odd with your feet to contact them to set up an appointment. You can visit jrmcnd.com or call 701-952-1050 for more information.
