JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two days after returning from an international tournament, brothers Koye and Kolt Grebel competed in the youth Greco and Free style State tournaments May 27th at the Jamestown Civic Center. Both won Greco state titles Saturday morning and followed those up with Free Style titles Saturday afternoon. The brothers won folk style Individual state titles in March. The 3 titles in one season is called the Triple Crown and North Dakota USA wrestling recognizes those who accomplish the feat with a special trophy.
This is the 2nd consecutive year that Koye, an 8th grader who competed in the 14& under 102 pound division, has won the Triple Crown and Kolt’s (6th grader in 86 lb 12U division) 4th overall.
Also placing on Saturday was former Triple Crown winner Kallen Hansen (8U 56lbs) who placed 5th in Greco and 4th Free Style.
Express concludes it’s season and is coached by Ryan Coghlan, Matt Maresh, Tim Miller, Doug Muske and TJ Hansen.
