JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Police were called Friday morning after a man was reportedly creating a disturbance and was possibly involved in criminal activity.
Major Justin Blinsky says police arrived after 7:30 AM to M & H Gas Station in Jamestown and made contact with the male, who was sitting inside his 2004 Chevy Suburban.
“Officers spoke to the male and during this time, established probable cause to arrest him and conduct a search of his vehicle,” Major Blinsky stated.
“The male refused to comply with officers’ orders to get out of his vehicle and resisted officers as they attempted to remove him from the vehicle. As the suspect resisted, he lunged down in his vehicle where he grabbed a handgun.”
Officers were able to immediately disarm the suspect and the handgun dropped to the ground as he was taken into custody. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
“One officer received minor injuries during the altercation. The firearm was loaded and safely secured and seized by police after the suspect was in custody,” Major Blinsky reported.
47 year-old Ray Anthony Hunter was arrested on suspicion of two counts of Felony Reckless Endangerment, Felony Preventing Arrest, Simple Assault on a Peace Officer, Possession of a Concealed Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Marijuana.
The incident remains under investigation. Hunter was taken to Stutsman County Corrections where he is awaiting formal charges.
