JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After rescheduling the event twice, the “Real World” Financial Literacy Camp hosted over 200 area students April 24th in Jamestown.
Held at the Jamestown Civic Center, the event is the first of its kind in Jamestown, however, there have been similar events in North Dakota. Planning committee member Chelsey Francis says the event gave students an opportunity to use a budget and plan for life. The students participated in a scenario called “city.”
Students from Edgeley, Kulm, Montpelier, Wishek, and Valley City participated in the event. 22 businesses, including the University of Jamestown, JRMC, and R.M. Stoudt, participated by interacting with participants. Approximately 30 volunteers assisted with the event.
The event is hosted by the North Dakota Jump$tart Coalition. The planning committee hopes to grow the event in the coming years.
