Edna Marie (Koebernick) Maasjo, 92, of Valley City, ND passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City.

Edna Marie Koebernick was born February 18, 1927 in Mercer, ND to Emil and Emma (Raap) Koebernick. She was baptized in Mercer and was confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn, ND. In 1941, the family moved to Sanborn. After graduating from Sanborn High School in 1948 as salutatorian Edna worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Valley City for five years where she was paid $22 per week.

She married Randy Maasjo on March 14, 1952 in Valley City. They made their home and farmed in Norma Township, near Fingal until their retirement in 1983. In 1992, they made their home in Valley City. Randy died on May 23, 2001.

Edna was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Fingal, ND and Messiah WELCA. She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Randy, a granddaughter Sara Walker, seven brothers, four sisters, and special friend George Paulson.

Edna is survived by son, Eldon (Shari) Maasjo, Valley City; daughter, Renee (Allen) Aarseth, Fingal; six grandchildren, Jason (Peggy) Aarseth, Tyler Maasjo, Mandy (Ricky) Binstock, Christa (Nate) Kron , Sara’s husband, Jason Walker, Tammy (Steve) Anderson and Amy PerDue; eight great grandchildren, Dylan, Payton, Abby, Brianna, Ryder, Samantha, Jacob and Teanna; two great-great grandchildren, Jailee and Easton; and a sister, Erna (Lloyd) Anderson, Valley City.

The funeral service will be held 1:30 pm Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fingal, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, ND. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens, Valley City.
