VALLEY CITY, N.D. – It looked like the 2019 boys golf season was going to start on time. Then Mother Nature spoke again and things got delayed.
With one meet already postponed, Tuesday at the Meadow Golf Course in Moorhead, it looks like the Valley City Hi-Liners will start the season next week.
The 2019 edition of the Hi-Liners has a good mixture of young golfers and older golfers. Head coach Trevor Hansen says this team is medium when it comes to experience. They are young in age, but are not inexperienced.
At varsity meets, you can have six golfers but you take the top four scores. Coach Hansen says there will be good competition finding those six golfers.
With the poor conditions of the courses in Valley City, Hansen says it looks like the Hi-Liners first trip outside will be at the first meet next Wednesday in Grand Forks.
The golfers with extensive varsity experience are juniors Blake Hagen, Bennett Rogelstad, Austin Rogelstad and Josh Vachel.
Sophomores Blake Triebold, Derek Bear and Eric Ingstad have also seen varsity time.
The Varsity will tee-off at 9am on Wednesday April 24th at Kings Walk Golf Course in Grand Forks. The junior varsity will tee-off at 9am on Wednesday at Lincoln Park Golf Course, also in Grand Forks.
