BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown High baseball team opened up their season Tuesday night at the Sanford Sports Complex on the campus of Legacy High with a pair of games against Bismarck High. The Jays got a couple of good pitching performances to win the games 10-0 and 2-0.
GAME 1: Jays 10, Bismarck 0.
Aaron Kleven sailed through four innings of shutout ball giving up just two hits and got some big time offense support in the fifth inning with a seven spot. Jamestown broke the seal in the first inning when the first three batters registered hits, capped off by Tommy Falk’s two-run single.
The seventh inning the Jays broke it open. Dawson Douty delivered the final dagger with a three-run double to push the lead to 10-0. He came into pitch and recorded the final three outs.
GAME 2: Jays 2, Bismarck 0.
Jamestown’s Max Anderson and Bismarck’s Nick Hinsz matched zeros in the first four innings. After Hinsz left the game, the Jays struck for a run in the 5th. Jeremy Williams delivered a two-out RBI single to break the scoreless tie.
Bismarck had their chances against Anderson, the lead off man reached in four of his five innings, but never pushed any across.
In the seventh inning, Ryder Lunzman lead off with a triple and was driven in a few pitches later by Kleven.
Chris Erickson worked the final two innings for the save of Anderson’s gem.
