JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Music Boosters came together several years ago with the goal of raising money to maintain and help the music programs in the school district flourish.

To do this, the organization has raised thousands of dollars to supplement the arts program, which is usually the first to suffer cuts when schools are looking at budgets.

Music Boosters President Michelle Weatherly says the organization has been able to purchase a grand piano for the district along with new acoustic shells, instruments, keyboards for the high school practice room and more. Weatherly says their next project is the risers at Lincoln Elementary School.

Weatherly says they’re looking to match the $2,000 raised by the Lincoln Elementary School PTO. To do so, the boosters hope their annual Music Blooms 2019 concert will help them reach their goal.

She says it’s very important that they keep and maintain parent and community involvement in the volunteer organization to ensure all students have the necessary musical tools to grow in the Jamestown Public School District.

The Music Blooms Concert is set for April 7th at 3 PM in the Jamestown High School. Weatherly says students will perform solo pieces, duets, group pieces and more. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and $25 for family.

All money raised will benefit the Jamestown Public Schools Music Department.
