JAMESTOWN, N.D. (UJ) – University of Jamestown’s Convocation Committee is hosting a screening of “Between Earth and Sky: Climate Change on the Last Frontier.”

The feature-length, science-based film, directed by Paul Allen Hunton and produced by Dr. David Weindorf, is the first of its kind to explore global climate change through the lens of soil science. It presents the impact of global climate change through the perspective of arctic soils and ecosystems of Alaska.

“This film began as a way to document the 33 years of soil science work in Alaska by recently-retired University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) professor Dr. Chien-Lu Ping,” says Dr. Weindorf. “It has evolved into a feature-length film that presents findings from numerous UAF researchers, top scientists and every-day people who simplify the link between climate dynamics and soil science through their personal experiences and knowledge.”

The screening, which is free and open to the public, will take place April 2, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Newman Arena.
