VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Hunter Franklin took 1st place in Stick welding and 2nd place in Wire welding. For his efforts in the stick competition he won a complete torch kit valued at $400, and for his 2nd place in wire he won an auto darkening helmet valued at $100.
Sheyenne Valley Area Career & Technology Center Director Jeff Bopp said several students received a variety of prizes from gift certificates to tee shirts to welding clamps. He said the students are from Valley City Public School District, except for Mason Haugen who attends Barnes County North.
Zach Shape competed in Wire and Stick welding and won the fire pit pictured in front of him, Trevan Phennig won a tee shirt, Braylon Bruins won a hat, Collin White won a $25 gift card, Mason Haugen won a welding clamp, Sam Mehus won a $25 gift card and Hunter Franklin captured first place in the welding competition.
