MINOT, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) In Friday’s afternoon consolation round at the 2019 State Class B Boys Basketball Tourney at the MSU Dome, Teddy Allmaras had 17 points to help the Rockets of New Rockford/Sheyenne defeat the Cardinals of Ellendale by four points. No. 5 seeded NR-S improves to 23-4 overall, Ellendale drops to 15-12.
The Rockets jumped out early, leading 12-1 early in the first quarter, Ellendale came back to take a 23-21 lead at the break. NR-S ouscored Ellendale 38-32 in the second half to secure the victory. Chance Durheim hit two big three’s to pull the Cardinals within one possession in the fourth quarter, but the Rockets hit some crucial free throws to maintain the lead. Bo Belquist added 13 for the Rockets and Parker Granger added 12, four 3-pointers. Austin Molan led Ellendale with 16 points, Scott Wagner had another double double, with 11 points, 14 rebounds. Hunter Thorpe added nine points and four assists. NR-S shot 13-17 at the charity stripe, and only nine turnovers. Ellendale committed 23 turnovers.
