VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A strong winter storm closed roads and made many others impassable on Thursday in the region.

Barnes County Chief Deputy Don Fiebiger said he and other deputies responded to multiple vehicles stopped on I-94 west of Valley City including six semi trailers and a family in an SUV.

He said in northeastern Barnes County a group of people had to be taken to safety by a snowmobile after their vehicle was stuck in the snow and they were stranded on Thursday. So far no injuries reported.
