JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Figure Skating Club has continued to impress over the course of the competitive season.
The season comes to an end with the 42nd Annual Ice Show March 15th, 16th, and 17th in Jamestown. Coach Mark Vasarhelyi has coached the team for more than 20 years and says the annual show is an experience for the community and the team.
This years show is “Dance Your Skates Off” and will feature a variety of pop songs both new and old. Coach Vasarhelyi says more than 40 skaters will perform a mix of acts including group and solo.
Ice Show Producer Jeanie Sortland says the ice show ends the skaters season in a very special way.
Sortland says 40 skaters from 29 different families will take to the ice for four shows this weekend. Six alumni are also coming back to perform in the show.
Coach Vasarhelyi says the show will feature great costumes, music, and skating which should entertain anyone who comes.
An added bonus and fundraiser for the ice club is the boutique. Sortland says parents, grandparents, and show goers can buy “gifts” to send backstage to the skaters. All funds then benefit the club.
Tickets for the show can be purchased from any James River Figure Skating Club member, Eckman’s Auto Service, Junk in the Trunk, Neighborhood Grocery, and Gifts from the Heart. Ticket prices increase $2 at the door.
Showtimes are 7 PM Friday, March 15th, 2 PM and 7 PM Saturday, March 16th, and 2 PM Sunday, March 17th at Wilson Arena.
