BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown became just the fourth team in Class A history to go undefeated as they knocked off Davies, 66-49 to win the 2019 Class A State Championship.
The defense set the tone as the Jays held Davies to just 18 points in the opening 18 minutes. The Davies Eagles shot just 29% from the field in the first half. Ryder Lunzman came through with a pair of triples early to pace the offense.
Boden Skunberg had 10 of his game-high 23 in the opening half.
Davies trailed 35-18 after the opening 18 minutes. In the second half, every push was answered by the Jays giving the ball to the tournament MVP Mason Walters.
“There was no secret. We were giving the ball to Mason and letting him go to work,” said Class A coach of the year Jacoby Lloyd.
Skunberg came up with a pair of And-One’s to ice the game sandwiched around a pair of huge Walters offensive boards.
Walters finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds.
A welcome home will be held on Sunday at 3pm at Jerry Meyer Arena.
