BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After a sluggish start to the game, five ties and two lead changes, Jamestown flexed their muscles by out rebounding Wahpeton 24-13 in the first half and outscoring the Huskies 24-4 in the final 7:15 to roll to a 74-49 win in the quarterfinals of the State Class A Boys Basketball Tournament at the Bismarck Events Center Thursday night.
After a media timeout with 7:15 remaining in the first half and the Jays up 18-15, the defense took control of the game. Wahpeton would go without a point for 6:57 before scoring the last four points ofthe half.
The Huskies would not get any closer than 21 points the rest of the way.
Mason Walters nearly had as many rebounds by himself as Wahpeton had as a team. The senior finished with 24 boards, Wahpeton had 28. Walters would add 16 points and three blocks. Boden Skunberg led the way with 19 points, 12 in the second half, and six rebounds. Dawson Douty was also in double figures with 12 points on 4 of 6 shooting from 3-point range. He would add a game high five assists.
Carson Lamp and Jacob Hilgeman came off the bench to  score 11 and 9 points respectively.
Josh Darwin was the only Husky in double figures with 17 points. Corbon Cornelius added eight points and seven rebounds.
The top ranked Blue Jays, now 25-0 on the year, take on Bismarck Century. The Patriots advance with a convincing 78-61 win over West Fargo. Jamestown beat the Patriots twice this season by 13 and 22 points.
