MEDINA, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Junior Forward Brittany Rath had 23 points, including three 3-pointers to help the Wolves of Kidder County defeat fellow District 6 team the Thunder of Medina/Pingree/Buchanan on Thursday night 55-42. KC improves to 18-0 overall and 5-0 in D6, MPB drops to 10-8 overall and 3-2 in D6.

The game was tied at 11 at the end of the first quarter, and the Wolves had a four point lead heading into halftime, 21-17. Rath and Senior Jaslyn Magstadt scored 17 of their teams 21 points in the third quarter to help take the lead for good, outscoring the Thunder 21-10. Sophomore Madelyn Schmidt added 11 and Magstadt ended with 10 points. Leading the way for the Thunder was Junior Gracie Bohl with 16 and Junior Megan Moser with 11.

The number two rated Wolves will be the number one seed heading into the District 6 girls basketball tourney next week Thursday, Friday and Monday, February 7th, 8th and 11th in Wishek, MPB will be the three seed.

Both teams have one regular season game left this season, KC will be at Wilton/Wing on Friday and MPB will be in New Rockford on Monday, February 4th. Thunder Country 98.3 will have the MPB vs. NR-S game starting about 7pm pregame Monday night.
