JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – State Senator and Assistant Senate Minority Leader John Grabinger (D – Jamestown), who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee, is set for the budget battle brewing in Bismarck.
Just a week after the deadline to submit budget bills, Grabinger sees one of the largest concerns in Human Services.
Before work begins on Governor Doug Burgum’s proposed State Hospital in Jamestown, Grabinger says he would like to see a two-year study on the matter. Grabinger also believes that the budgetary attitude of some at the state capitol is not helping North Dakotans.
Now, the Senate Appropriations Committee will need to review and decide what the final budget will look like.
Grabinger says that work will need to be done between the House and the Senate, as well as their respective policy committees, to determine how much is going to each section of the budget. Governor Burgum has proposed a $14.3 billion spending plan for the 2019-2020 biennium.
