Valley City, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Heading into Saturday’s game against Fargo South, Valley City’s Taryn Dieterle had 999 career point. The senior wasted little time getting the career milestone, she scored The Hi-Liners first points of the game to become the program’s newest member of the 1,000 point club. Valley City would go on to win the game 67-52.
Dieterle’s basket tied the game at 2 and came in front of the home crowd at The HAC, she says it’s a moment she will not forget
After the game was tied South went in front and would go up 15-4, The Hi-Liners took a time out and Dieterle said the team just needed to refocus
Valley City would get back the lead taking a 31-25 advantage into the half. An 18-4 run in the second half helped The Hi-Liners outscore The Bruins 36-27 to earn the victory and get back to .500 in The EDC at 7-7.
Four of the five VCHS starters scored in double figures. Dieterle led the way with 20. Grace Scherr and Lindsey Noeske scored 15 each and Jadyn Dieterle 10.
Fargo South’s Adie Wagner paced all scorers with 23. Brynn Nelson finished with 9 and Mesaged Abakar and Paige Schroeder 6.
Just six games are all that remain on the schedule for The Hi-Liners, knowing that The EDC Tourney is right around the corner, Dieterle says they need to start playing their best basketball
Tuesday’s game with West Fargo is part of a doubleheader with the boys, the girls play first at 5:45 with the second game to start around 7:30. Both came be heard on KOVC 1490 AM/ 96.3 FM.
