BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Biting cold, blowing winds, and snow is expected to grace Central and Eastern North Dakota today.
According to the Bismarck National Weather Service, the highest snow accumulations will be found in the eastern part of the state while rain, freezing rain, and snow will strike the west. Strong winds are expected to pickup and remain constant through the day, bringing extremely cold air that will stay through the week. Wind chills are expected to be life-threatening.
“Very strong winds are expected today and tonight, with maximum wind gusts up to 65 mph,” the weather service states. “This will lead to blizzard conditions over parts of central and eastern North Dakota.”
Snow accumulation is expected to be anywhere from 3 to 6 inches. Blowing snow will reduce visibility and winds could potentially damage trees and powerlines.
