JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Residents who have ever been interested in law enforcement or who have ever wondered what the day-to-day life of an officer could be have the opportunity this Spring.

The second ever Jamestown Police Department Citizens Academy is set to begin March 7th and run each Thursday for 10 weeks.

Jamestown Police Sgt. Shane Gallagher says their first academy has 13 graduates, all of whom enjoyed the free program immensely. He says they cover a variety of topics each week including ride alongs and more.

Major Justin Blinsky says they moved the Academy to the Spring and on Thursdays because it worked better for those interested.

Major Blinsky says a lot of instruction will pertain more to the Jamestown Police Department.

Applications are being accepted through January 31st. Once applications are received, a background check will be conducted before the first night on March 7th.
