JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – With more than 2.6 million involved in the program worldwide, Girl Scouts has continued to provide a program geared towards leadership development.
Stacey Andernacht is the Communications Director for Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons. She says Girl Scouts empower girls to be Go-getters, innovators, risk-takers, and leaders.
Andernacht says locally, there has been amazing involvement with Girl Scouts with even one girl achieving the gold award.
“Only 6% of all Girl Scouts ever achieve the gold award,” Andernacht explains.
Andernacht says through donations and partnerships, like the one Girl Scouts has with United Way, they’re able to continue providing these opportunities to area girls.
Jamestown United Way member Cassie DuBray says donating to United Way is one of the best ways to support Girl Scouts while also supporting 14 other organizations in the region.
Of course, the Girl Scouts have become well-known for their cookie campaign. Andernacht says they’re able to teach girls with sales, entrepreneurship, and more.
The cookie sales will return later this year.
