OAKES, N.D.- (NewsDakota.com)- The story of the night in another blowout victory was Nicole Schmitz recording her 1,000th career point.
Schmitz needed nine points heading into Thursday night’s game to eclipse 1,000. It took her until a couple minutes into the 2nd quarter when she hit a free throw to hit the milestone. After a slow start to the night, Schmitz was relieved to hit 1,000.
“It feels pretty good to get it out of the way,” said Schmitz. “It’s something you dream about when you’re little,” added Schmitz.
Ms. 1,000 finished her night with 20 points and now sits at 1,011 career points.
As for the team, the Tornadoes cruise to another blowout victory with a 67-33 victory over Midkota. With the win, Oakes moves to 10-2 on the year and have won eight games in a row.
Next time out for Oakes will be Monday at home against Sargent Central.
