DICKINSON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jace Thompson scored 29 seconds into overtime leading Jamestown to a 4-3 win over Dickinson and completing the hockey sweep. The Blue Jay girls got by Dickinson 3-0 Behind Erin Anderson.

In the first game of the night, Mary Belzer scored her first goal of the year 43 seconds into the game and Erin Anderson stopped all 36 shots she faced for her second career shutout. It was the first shutout for a Blue Jay goaltender since Anderson blanked the Fergus Falls JV on November 25th, 2016. She had 7 saves that night. It was the first shutout over a North Dakota school since Carissa Finck shutout Devils Lake on February 12th, 2013. And it was the first shutout over a West Region team since November 23rd, 2012 when Finck blanked Mandan.

Abby Grounds would her team some breathing room with her team leading seventh goal of the season at the 2:56 mark of the period. Ella Roaldson would score her seventh goal on an empty netter with 52 seconds to go in the fame.

The Blue Jay girls improve to 4-6-1 overall and won back-to-back games since December 27th and 28th last season.

The boys would also win back-to-back games and both by 4-3 scores. Dickinson jumped out first with a goal by Ryan Bren at the 4:31 mark of the first period.

Joe Cummings scored an unassisted goal at 12:04 to tie the game at 1. Easton Hagen made it 2-1 Jamestown with his 1st of the season at 6:16 of the second period.

Joseph Pavek tied the game at 2 with his seventh of the year 2:37 later.

Tommy Falk scored his sixth of the year at 11:30 of the third period to make it 3-2. But 1:04 later, Bren scored his second of the game to tie it at 3 and send the game to an extra eight minutes.

Thompson would end the game with a goal that deflected off the arm of Midgets goaltender Riley Wittenberg and trickled past the goal line. It was Thompson’s seventh of the season. Which ties him with Corey Nelson for the team leadership.

The Blue Jay Boy’s are 3-3-1 in the West Region and 3-7-1 overall.
