JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)- Owen Bartz scored a goal in each period and Michael Hallquist had three points as Fargo North ended a three game losing streak with a 6-3 win over Jamestown in high school boys hockey Thursday night at John L. Wilson Arena.

Bartz scored at 5:10 of the first period, 14:04 of the second and finished the hat trick at the 11:52 mark of the third period. The last goal gave North a 5-3 lead after Jamestown had scored twice in a span of 3:14 to cut the lead to 4-3. Michael Hallquist had two goals and an assist for the Spartans. His last goal was abn empty netter with 1:06 remaining in the third period.

Blue Jays head coach Matt Stockert says the middle period was the difference when North scored 40 seconds into the period and with less than three minutes to go.

 

 

Corey Nelson had two goals for Jamestown who held a 1-0 lead 2:01 into the game on Nelson’s fourth of the season, a power play goal. He would score again in the third period to cut the lead to 4-3 on a one-timer following a nice pass from Jace Thompson from behind the net. Thompson had two assists and Tommy Falk had a goal and an assist.

Stockert says all in all, it wasn’t a bad game, just a loss.

 

 

Riley Gerhardt made 40 saves for the Jays who fall to 1-7-1. Luke Olson had 29 saves for North who improve to 2-7.

Jamestown is off until January 4th when they host Bottineau-Rugby at 7:30.
