MADISON, S.d. (JimmieAthletics.com) – The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team defeated Dakota State (S.D.) University 99-78 Thursday evening, their first win in Madison since February 4. 2015.

HOW IT HAPPENED
*Kevin Oberweiser (SR/Drummond, MT) scored 17 points and Jon Purintun(SR/Linton, ND) added nine as the Jimmies took a 48-40 halftime lead.
*The Jimmies shot 15 of 30 (50%) in the first half, including 7 of 15 from three-point range.
*Dakota State led 4-3 at the 17:48 mark, but UJ went on a 6-0 run to take a 9-4 advantage.
*Terrell Alfred (JR/Orlando, FL) gave Jamestown its first double-digit lead after his basket at the 1:40 mark.
*Oberweiser and Purintun paced the Jimmie offense in the second half as well, scoring 13 and 10, respectively.
*DSU got within two points at 52-50 with 17:42 to play, but the Jimmies scored 19 of the next 28 points to build a 12-point edge.
*The Trojans were able to chip away at UJ’s lead, getting as close as five points with 11:06 to play.
*A 17-0 run by Jamestown over the next 6:38 put the game away.

*Oberweiser finished with a game-high 30 points, including six three-pointers. He also grabbed eight rebounds.
*Purintun added 19 points and was one assist shy of a double-double.
*Alfred knocked down five three-pointers on his way to 17 points, and Brock Schrom (SO/Grand Rapids, MN) posted a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
*Jamestown shot just two free throws in the second half after attempting 14 in the first.
*UJ was 16 of 37 from beyond the arc for the game.
FOR DSU
*Brady Van Holland led the Trojans with 25 points in 23 minutes off the bench.
*Josh McGreal added 19 and seven rebounds, while Justin Folkers was also in double digits with 15.
*Cody Muilenberg dished out a team-high five assists.
*Dakota State was 8-for-8 from the free throw line, with Van Holland attempting (and making) all eight.
*DSU shot 39.5 percent (15 of 38) overall in the second half.
