JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It’s been more than three years since Jamestown Tourism’s Jamestown Calendar went live.
The page was launched after numerous community discussions regarding the need for a community calendar that could be accessed by the public and used to both promote and plan events.
Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund says in the past three years, the site has seen 112,000 page views. He says since the site was launched, the trend for mobile users has grown significantly, requiring the need to revamp the calendar.
Swedlund says computer, iPad, and smartphone users will now see a cleaner interface better suited for mobile devices.
Swedlund added that the community as well as magazines, radio stations and more use the content from the calendar to help promote Jamestown, making it an important tool for advertising the community.
“Jamestown Tourism worked with True North Studio to redesign the paper calendar,” Swedlund pointed out. “The overall look of the publication remained the same, but made some adjustments to the readability and the images.”
Some events from the online calendar are published to the paper calendar, which reaches 600 businesses in Jamestown and is distributed to 38,000 regional households during the summer.
