SIOUX CITY, I.A. (JimmieAthletics.com) –The University of Jamestown men’s basketball team gave No. 2 Morningside College all they could handle Saturday afternoon, before the Mustangs pulled away for an 87-79 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
*Despite making just 4-of-18 (22 percent) three-point attempts in the first half, Jamestown trailed by only a 41-34 margin at the half.
*Morningside connected on 60 percent (18 of 30) from the field and outrebounded the Jimmies 19-12 in the opening 20 minutes.
*The Mustangs led by 10 (54-44) following a Tyler Borchers layup with 14:34 to play. UJ went on a 10-2 run during the next 4:37 to pull within two points, 56-54.
*Morningside scored the next six points to push their lead to eight, then eventually extended their advantage to 13 with 55 seconds left.

FOR UJ
*Jon Purintun (SR/Linton, ND)’s career-high 33 points led the Jimmies. Purintun was 12-of-22 from the floor, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 4-for-4 at the charity stripe.
*Terrell Alfred (JR/Orlando, FL), making his first start of the season, scored 19 points and grabbed six rebounds.
*Brady Birch (SO/Melrose, MN) had 11 points and six rebounds off the bench. Isaiah Dobson (JR/Stillwater, MN) chipped in with nine points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
*The Jimmies connected on 10-of-34 (29.4%) three-point attempts.

FOR MORNINGSIDE
*Tyler Borchers was one of five Mustangs in double figures, leading the way with 25 points. Zach Imig and Trey Brown added 14, Matt Hahn 11, and Brody Egger 10.
*Imig pulled down eight rebounds and along with Borchers and Eggers, passed out three assists.
*The Mustangs shot an impressive 61.5% (32-for-52) from the field.
*Rebounds were 34-31 in favor of Morningside
