JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – City Engineer Travis Dillman will begin seeking state funding to continue riverbank clearing in the area.

Earlier this year, Dillman informed the Jamestown City Council that the tree snagging project had been completed. He told the city then that he would look for other funding to complete the rest of the James River.

Dillman informed the council that they had broken the project into different phases.

Dillman says the city must show a cost benefit analysis to be eligible to consider funding. He explained some of the areas that would be focused on in Phase III.

The goal of the project is to increase the efficiency of the channel.

The grant the city would be looking at would be 75% federal, 10% state funding, and 15% local funding through the Special Assessments Deficiency Fund.

The city of Jamestown approved a resolution for Interstate Engineering to provide the basic civil design and special services on the river project at an estimated cost of around $90,000.
