VALLEY CITY, N.D. (VCSUVikings.com)- Four Valley City State University volleyball student-athletes have been named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, the national office announced Thursday.
VCSU seniors Clarissa Olson and Autumn Johnson received the honor, along with juniors Charlotte Huschka and Ellie Winter.
The NAIA Scholar-Athlete award recognizes students who demonstrate consistent success in the classroom while handling the heavy time demands of being a student-athlete. In order to qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
It is the second straight year that Johnson and Olson have received the honor.
Johnson – the VCSU Student Senate president and a native of Hazen, N.D. – is pursuing a degree in social science education while at VCSU.
Olson, Huschka and Winter are all Valley City natives. Olson is pursuing a degree in math education; Huschka is studying business administration; and Winter is majoring in physical education.
