TOWER CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Barnes County North held Maple Valley to just one field goal in the fourth quarter on the way to a 37-30 win Tuesday night in the season opener for both teams in girls basketball.
Bailey Soupir and Clara Wieland each had a double-double. Soupir had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Bison. Wieland added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Alexis Greshik had six rebounds and a team high four assists.
First year Head coach Allyson Dockter says the defense carried them tonight.
Courtney Hovelson led the Raiders with 13 points. She had eight points at the break and made just five free throws in the second half. She would add a team high six rebounds. Sarah Richman did not score but led the team with four assists.
Coach Dockter says they held up their energy throughout the game while the Raiders slowed down in the fourth quarter.
Barnes County North will host Kidder County on Thursday while Maple Valley host Oakes on Friday.
