BISMARCK, N.D. (Prairie Public) – Toy trucks and STEM education?

That was the announcement made at a Bismarck elementary school today.

State school superintendent Kirsten Baesler was on hand at Bismarck’s Liberty Elementary School.

Hess Corporation will provide 24 of these toy trucks to every elementary school in North Dakota.

Mike Turner is the senior vice-president for production for Hess. He says the program for using the trucks came from the STEM curriculum designed by Baylor College.

Turner says this will help students become interested in science, technology, engineering and math – to fill future workforce needs in North Dakota.
